Everyday cleaning steps
Unplug the waffle maker, let it cool completely, sweep out crumbs, soak up excess oil, wipe the irons with a damp soapy cloth, then remove any soap and let everything dry before storing.
- Unplug the waffle maker and allow the irons to cool completely before you try to clean them.
- Sweep out loose crumbs with a paper towel or soft toothbrush, working along the grooves of the irons.
- For mini irons or very narrow grooves, wrap a paper towel around a chopstick or toothpick and push it through the grooves to lift out trapped pieces of food.
- Blot up any excess oil on the irons with a fresh paper towel, folding it so you can press it between the grid lines.
- Run a toothpick through tiny crevices, edges, and gaps where grease and crumbs like to collect, scooping out anything stuck there.
- Dampen a cloth with warm water and a single drop of dish soap, then wipe the inside and outside of the waffle maker, including around the grids.
- Rinse the cloth and wipe again with clean water until all soapy residue is gone so your next waffles will not taste like soap.
- Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth if needed, then leave the waffle maker open until the plates and body are completely dry before storing.
